Patna:
Ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, internal turmoil within the Congress has come to the forefront. Disgruntled party leaders have accused Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru and state president Rajesh Ram of selling election tickets.
During a press conference held in Patna, senior leaders claimed that the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) is “on the verge of breaking,” alleging that tickets were distributed to undeserving candidates in exchange for money.
‘Ticket Chor, Pad Chhod’ Slogans Raised
Congress leader Bunty Chaudhary directly blamed the party in-charge, saying, “The Grand Alliance is falling apart because of him. He neither finalized the seat-sharing arrangement nor declared a Chief Ministerial face.”
Angry party members raised slogans — “Ticket chor, pad chhod” (Leave your post, ticket thief) — during the conference.
Among those present were Chhatrapati Yadav (Khagaria MLA), Gajanand Shahi (Barbigha), Nagendra Paswan (former Youth Congress president), and Kanchana Kumari Singh (Banka district president).
Complaint Sent to Kharge
Senior Congress leader Anand Madhav has written a letter to Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, urging him to intervene in the growing internal crisis.
RJD Fields Bahubali’s Wife, Congress Upset
The rift deepened further when the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) gave a ticket to Anita Devi, wife of strongman Ashok Mahato, from Warisaliganj (Nawada) — a seat already claimed by Congress candidate Mantan Singh.
Ticket Controversy in Kasba
In Kasba, Mohd Irfan Alam, who earlier broke down in tears over being denied a ticket, has now been fielded by Congress. The party dropped four-time MLA Afak Alam to accommodate him. Although the Congress has not officially announced it, MP Pappu Yadav confirmed the news on social media.
Seat-Sharing Dispute Across Mahagathbandhan
On 121 seats in the first phase, 125 candidates from the Mahagathbandhan have filed nominations:
RJD: 72 seats
Congress: 24 seats
Left (CPIML): 21 seats
VIP: 6 seats
IIP: 2 seats
Mukesh Sahani Declares — “I Want to Be Deputy CM, Not MP”
Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani stated that he would not contest this election but would work hard to ensure the Grand Alliance forms the government.
“I don’t want a Rajya Sabha seat — I want to become the Deputy Chief Minister,” Sahani said.
He nominated his brother Santosh Sahani from Gaurabauram, while other party candidates were fielded from Aurai, Darbhanga Urban, and Gopalpur. Reports suggest VIP has been allotted 15 seats, along with offers for a Rajya Sabha and two MLC positions.
Seat-Sharing Still Unresolved
Despite the end of the nomination phase, the Grand Alliance has not made an official seat-sharing announcement. Prolonged negotiations from Patna to Delhi failed to yield consensus.
Even personal calls from Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to pacify rebel leaders reportedly did not help.
With the alliance still divided over ticket distribution, the internal conflict could significantly impact electoral outcomes in Bihar.
