Motihari, Bihar: In a surprising turn of events during the second phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Bihar’s Sugarcane Industry Minister Krishna Nandan Paswan, a senior BJP leader, failed to file his nomination papers on time from the Harsidhi Assembly constituency in East Champaran district.
According to reports, Minister Paswan arrived at the Returning Officer’s office after the official deadline had ended. As a result, his nomination papers were not accepted, leading to a wave of discussions and speculations in the political circles of Motihari.
Delay Due to Large Convoy and Temple Visit
Minister Krishna Paswan reached Harsidhi with a large convoy of supporters. However, the convoy’s slow movement caused significant delays on the way. In addition to that, the minister stopped at the Baba Someshwarnath Mahadev Temple to offer prayers, which further delayed his arrival at the nomination venue.
By the time Paswan reached the office, the nomination deadline had already passed, and officials refused to accept the documents as per the election commission’s rules.
Minister Addressed Supporters After the Incident
After being unable to submit his nomination, Minister Paswan addressed his supporters gathered at a nearby ground. He acknowledged the delay, stating that the large convoy and religious rituals caused an unexpected time lapse.
> “I was scheduled to file my nomination from Harsidhi, but due to the convoy size and temple visit, I could not make it in time. The Returning Officer refused to accept the papers, which is as per the rule,” Paswan told the media.
Clarification on BJP Symbol and Future Plans
Addressing rumors about the BJP party symbol, Krishna Paswan clarified that there was no confusion regarding it. He stated that he has already received the party symbol and that the official announcement will be made soon.
The minister also confirmed that he will re-file his nomination on the next scheduled date, expressing confidence in his candidature and continued support from party workers.
Political Buzz in Harsidhi After the Incident
The incident has sparked political discussions in the Harsidhi region, with opposition parties viewing it as a setback for the BJP ahead of the elections. However, Paswan’s supporters have strongly stood by him, showing their unwavering support and confidence in his leadership.
