Patna AIIMS Doctors Launch Indefinite Strike Over Assault on MLA Chetan Anand

Patna: The medical fraternity at Patna AIIMS has come to a standstill as resident doctors launched an indefinite strike on Friday, protesting against an alleged assault involving Shivhar MLA Chetan Anand.

The clash, which reportedly took place between doctors and the MLA over a dispute, has sparked outrage among the medical staff. As a result, OPD (Outpatient Department) services have been completely halted, although emergency services are being kept operational to avoid inconvenience to critical patients.

Doctors have gathered outside the AIIMS premises, raising slogans like “Chetan Anand Maafi Maango” (Chetan Anand must apologize) and “Doctors ko Suraksha Do” (Ensure safety for doctors). The AIIMS Resident Doctors Association has expressed serious concerns over the increasing threats and misbehavior they face while on duty.

According to the resident doctors, they were allegedly threatened with life and physically assaulted during the altercation. Additionally, security guards who tried to intervene were also manhandled.

The doctors are firm on their demand that Chetan Anand must issue a public apology and that stringent actions be taken to ensure the safety and dignity of medical professionals. Until then, the strike will continue.
