In a disturbing display of lawlessness, a broad daylight firing incident occurred today in the posh Boring Canal Road area, falling under Krishnapuri police station limits. Eyewitnesses confirmed that 8–10 rounds were fired by miscreants, triggering panic and fear among the locals.
According to sources, a senior journalist who was passing by the area immediately informed ADG (Police HQ) Kundan Krishnan, who then swung into action. The ADG contacted Patna SSP Avkash Kumar and directed him to identify and arrest the culprits at the earliest, adding that no political or social pressure should shield the accused.
Incident Linked to Road Rage:
Locals revealed that earlier in the day, four intoxicated youths in a black Scorpio SUV collided with a Baleno car carrying a family. When the family objected, the youth became aggressive. Locals intervened and asked the Scorpio occupants to leave.
Shocking everyone, the same SUV returned after two hours and began firing indiscriminately outside residential houses, attempting to terrorize the neighborhood before fleeing the scene.
ADG Law & Order Witnessed the Scene:
Coincidentally, ADG Law & Order Pankaj Darad, who was returning from an ATS meeting, witnessed the gunfire near New Punaichak. He immediately began chasing the suspects, and his security personnel also fired in retaliation. The chase extended up to GPO Golambar, but the miscreants, who were reportedly drunk, managed to escape.
ADG Darad immediately informed the control room, following which multiple police units were activated. According to SSP Avkash Kumar, live cartridges and empty shells were recovered from the spot. The Scorpio had no number plate, which adds to the suspicion.
Strict Action Promised:
CDPO Saket Kumar confirmed that the confrontation began during the road rage incident and escalated dangerously. He assured the media and public that no accused will be spared, and special teams have been deployed to apprehend the culprits.
Public in Panic:
The incident has sparked serious concern among citizens regarding Patna’s deteriorating law and order situation. Residents have demanded round-the-clock patrolling, immediate arrests, and stricter control on antisocial elements, especially in elite neighborhoods.
