A major political storm has erupted within Bihar’s Mahagathbandhan alliance ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly Election 2025. In Vaishali district’s Lalganj constituency, former RJD MLA and influential strongman Munna Shukla’s daughter, Shivani Shukla, has made serious allegations against the Congress party, accusing it of selling election tickets for money.
Shivani Shukla’s Explosive Allegation
Expressing disappointment, Shivani Shukla said she had been working in the Lalganj region for the last three years, closely engaging with women and youth to strengthen the Congress base. However, she claims the party betrayed her trust.
> “I worked for three years among the people of Lalganj. But the Congress suddenly gave the ticket to someone else by taking money. This is betrayal,” Shivani said.
She announced that she would contest as an independent candidate, stating,
> “My true symbol is the people’s support. The ticket is just a piece of paper.”
Congress Fields Aditya Kumar Raja from Lalganj
The Congress has given the Lalganj seat to Aditya Kumar Raja, reportedly representing the Baniya community. Following this announcement, thousands of local supporters, panchayat representatives, and party workers held a meeting in support of Shivani Shukla.
Leaders including Ganesh Rai, Satyanarayan Rai, Gaurishankar Pandey, Jitendra Rai, Virendra Rai, Rajmani Devi, and Akshay Shukla declared their full support for Shivani, emphasizing that the people’s trust matters more than the party symbol.
Lalganj — The Political Stronghold of Munna Shukla
Lalganj has long been known as the political bastion of Munna Shukla, who won this seat with record votes in 2000. Over recent years, Shivani Shukla has been actively involved in regional development projects — especially focusing on women’s empowerment, education, and local governance.
Political experts believe that if she contests independently, the Lalganj seat may witness a three-cornered battle, potentially splitting votes within the Mahagathbandhan and weakening the Congress-RJD base.
“Our Fight Is for the People,” Says Shivani
Vowing to continue her campaign, Shivani said,
> “We will not be trapped in any political web. Our fight is for the people and for justice. The people’s faith is my strength.”
Her supporters have promised to stand firmly with her in the upcoming elections, indicating that the Lalganj battle could become one of the most watched contests in Bihar Election 2025.
