Xavier University Patna Celebrates Annual Day 2026 with Academic Excellence and Cultural Performances

Xavier University Patna celebrated its Annual Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and pride at Kalam Hall on March 14, 2026. The grand event brought together students, faculty members, and distinguished guests to celebrate the university’s academic achievements, cultural talents, and commitment to holistic education.

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Agrawal, Director of Higher Education, Government of Bihar. Several dignitaries also attended the ceremony including Guest of Honour Rev. Fr. A. Christu Savarirajan, Principal of St. Michael’s High School Patna, Chancellor Rev. Fr. Vimal Kishore, Rector Rev. Fr. Joseph Sebastian, Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Dr. Martin Poras, and Registrar Rev. Fr. Dr. Sherry George.

The celebration began with the arrival of dignitaries, followed by the University Anthem and the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment.

Highlights of the Annual Report

During the program, Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Dr. Martin Poras delivered the Welcome Address and Annual Report, highlighting the university’s major achievements and milestones during the academic year 2025–2026. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to student-centred learning, innovation, and the Jesuit values of excellence, service, and integrity.

In his Presidential Address, Chancellor Rev. Fr. Vimal Kishore spoke about leadership, humility, and the transformative role of education in shaping responsible citizens.

Chief Guest Emphasizes Innovation and Research

Addressing the audience, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Agrawal discussed the changing landscape of higher education. He emphasized the growing importance of innovation, research, and ethical responsibility in universities.

Rev. Fr. A. Christu Savarirajan, the Guest of Honour, also highlighted the importance of transformative education that nurtures individual potential while integrating technology and creativity into the learning process.

Felicitation of Outstanding Students

One of the most awaited moments of the event was the felicitation and certificate distribution ceremony. Students were recognized for their outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, and extracurricular activities.

Cultural Performances Add Vibrancy

The cultural segment of the evening began with a graceful prayer dance titled “Rhythm of Devotion,” invoking harmony and positivity. Students also performed a soulful group song titled “Empathy: The Language of the Heart,” reflecting the university’s theme of compassion and unity.

A major highlight of the program was a thought-provoking mime performance titled “Ethics in the Era of AI,” presented by the university theatre group. The performance creatively explored ethical dilemmas emerging in the age of artificial intelligence.

A Grand Conclusion

The event concluded with a spectacular Grand Finale performance, followed by a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Rector Rev. Fr. Joseph Sebastian, S.J.

The Annual Day celebration reflected the academic year’s theme “Reinventing Education: Ethics, Empathy and Digital Innovation.” The event left the audience inspired by the university’s vision of holistic education, innovation, and social responsibility.
